*Connecting Communities in 21st Century*
Friday 20th November - Sorby House, Spital Hill - 6pm

-Guest Speaker Humera Khan - 'one of the most important Muslim voices speaking and writing in Britain today. Founder of the pioneering An-Nisa Society in Wembley, she has been an activist and educator for over 20 years'


*Conversation Club AGM*
Friday 27th November - CURC, Norfolk St - 2.30pm

2009 Annual General Meeting of Conversation Club, including food and social. Conversation Club itself will start as usual at 1pm prior to the AGM. All are welcome.


*CDAS Benefit*
Friday 27th November - Cafe Euro, John Street - 7.30pm
Entrance: £5 adv / £6.50 on the door / £4 conc.

Come and help raise money for Sheffield Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers (CDAS). Performances from Na Zdrove House Band, Flamingo Love Parade, Little Robots and Ric Booth. Tickets Available from Cafe Euro (John Street),
the Rude Shipyard (Abbeydale Rd), Rare and Racy (Devonshire Street), and New Roots-Ashram (Spital Hill).


*No to Deportations and Destitution demo*
Saturday 28th November - Town Hall, Sheffield - 11am

Asylum seekers in South Yorkshire are facing threats such as: forcible deportation to face certain danger in Zimbabawe, Afghanistan and Iraq; forced into destitution because they are not allowed to work and have benefits withdrawn; benefits being cut by £7 to £35 a week; being forced to travel the length of the country to make a claim for asylum.

Coming up to Christmas, a demonstration to show that the people of South Yorkshire stand in solidarity with those seeking asylum from war, persecution and torture.
