Second meeting of Nottingham working group

Our next meeting will be at the Friends Meeting House, 22 Clarendon St, Nottingham on Tuesday 22 July at 7.30. All interested are welcome.

Chris Jackson will chair this time and Rhiannon Grant will take minutes.

The agenda will include formalising our existence and arranging a pulbic meeting in the autumn. More ideas for action needed!

 

WalkTalk comes to Sheffield

Friday 25 July, 11am Sheffield Peace Gardens
A 200 mile walk for peace and cohesion, co-founded by Gill Hicks, a survivor of the 7/7 London bombing, to bring communities together.
WalkTalk's wish is to see as many diverse people as possible walking and talking together, encouraging conversations, unite people who would otherwise never meet, never talk and almost certainly never walk side by side - ‘walking in another's shoes'.

‘Human Rights for Migrants’ - Public Meeting with Nick Clegg MP

Thursday 31st July, 6pm at Sheffield Town Hall Reception Room
This is an opportunity to hear from refugee and migrant worker communities in the UK, and to discuss the issues directly with Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats.

Will you walktalk with me?

WALKTALK is a walk with a difference. Starting in
Leeds on 19th July, a group of people will be walking to
London with an aim to talk to people, walk in one another's shoes, to
understand, influence and learn from one another, and together shape
a better society.

 

Is there a City of Sanctuary near you?

There are now City of Sanctuary working groups in Sheffield, Leicester, Norwich, London, Bristol, Nottingham, Swansea, Oxford and Bradford.

Nottingham City of Sanctuary - first meeting -

On Friday 27 June at 7.30pm, we are holding the first meeting of a seed group to set up Nottingham City of Sanctuary. The meeting will take place at the Friends Meeting House, 25 Clarendon Street, Nottingham.

All are welcome, however little or much you might be able to offer to do! Every little, including support, helps!  

Conference News

People representing groups from over 20 towns and cities, from Glasgow to Portsmouth, came to our first City of Sanctuary national conference on 4th June to share ideas about how to build their own local Cities (or Towns or Villages) of Sanctuary.

City of Sanctuary in London

City of Sanctuary in London has taken its first step, with an initial meeting in May and ambitious plans for the future as an ‘Olympic City of Sanctuary'.

Please do spread the word about City of Sanctuary London and get any friends and contacts who live and work in the capital to get in touch and get involved. Please contact us for their email address.
