Events and training in 2023

Throughout 2022 we held over fifty events, from safeguarding workshops to support and best practice sharing for schools, universities and local councils. You can find all past events here.
This year we have an exciting series of events planned in order to both grow and support City of Sanctuary regional groups, whilst also upskilling and empowering individuals in campaigning and advocacy.
Alongside our regular regional and network meet ups, we will be holding two strands of online events:

1) Supporting and growing groups – this will be a series of events aimed at providing regional groups and awarded organisations with the knowledge they need to stabilise, grow and have the biggest positive impact.
    • Safeguarding training – 1st Dec – see event recording here
    • Sanctuary Award Assessment training – 17th Jan – register here
    • Co-Production training – 22nd Feb – register here
    • Volunteer Recruitment and Management training – date TBC
    • Governance best practice training – date TBC

Let us know what other events would be most helpful to you!

2) Supporting and empowering individuals to campaign in the run up to the General Election – this will be a series of workshops designed to upskill individuals to change hearts and minds within their own communities, as well as engaging with parliamentary candidates and MPs. These events will cover both small actions and big actions people can take in the run up to the General Election, as well as how to safely and productively have difficult conversations.
These workshops will be complimented by a series of themed sessions which will run throughout 2023 on topics which regularly come up in discussions relating to asylum: Channel crossings, hotel accommodation, family reunion etc.

These sessions would be run by partner organisations who can give overview of the realities they face, some key facts and good ways to counter hostility relating to these topics.

Both of these events strands are in process at the moment – want them to be as impactful and as helpful as possible, so please send over your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. If there is a topic or area you’d like more training within, let us know. Please contact our Director of Operations Sara on: [email protected]</div
